SECOND HAND FIRST
'It is important to note that a great degree of variation occurs between even the most 'common' bodies and as such no person can be considered average'
- an anthropologist
House Of Quirk began its life as an alterations service after noticing a gap in the market for a trusted stitcher to repair and alter clothing. It is very rare to fit perfectly in to the sizing brackets we are expected to, by using our alterations service you can enhance the fit of your garments!
In addition to the alterations - I started making accessories that were all designed to wear multiple ways to enhance your existing wardrobe. Buying one small item rather than lots of new outfits, the collars being the most popular product, selling 200 in one day!
HoQ has always been cautious of sustainability and started making collars out of any pre-existing items sent in by customers and making scrunchies to use up the scraps. All our bows are made from second hand fabrics and offcuts.
I have worked in costume departments for over 10 years and noticed the amount of waste within the industry and try to combat this by saving clothes from a life in landfill once a production had ended. Which led to starting up the HoQ Preloved Collection.
The preloved items range from Vintage to modern key pieces that have been carefully selected for their timeless style, durability and unique charm. I believe that second hand shopping is not only a great way to express your individuality but also a way to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry.
I only use recycled or recyclable packaging to post out products, I am proud to be part of the growing movement towards sustainable and ethical fashion. By choosing second hand clothes and altering them to fit your body, you can reduce your carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the environment.
So, whether you're a vintage fashion lover or simply looking for a sustainable way to update your wardrobe, House of Quirk has something for you.
